Rachelle Ann admits crying at Les Miserables Manila opening #JHedzWorlD

Filipina singer and internationally-acclaimed stage actress Rachelle Ann Go is currently busy with the Manila run of Les Miserables.

She plays Fantine in the Philippine staging of the musical set in 19th century revolutionary France.

Rachelle Ann admits that she feels pressured performing in front of fellow Filipinos.

“Mas malaki ang pressure,” says Rachelle Ann out during the media call held earlier today, March 15, at Solaire.

She adds, “Ang bigat, kasi ang mga Pinoy, very talented and marunong kumanta, and they’re very picky.

“You can’t be flat or sharp. You have to be perfect.

“Nandun rin ang expectations ng tao, so nakakatakot magkamali.

“Nandun yung kaba ko every night pero mas nangingibabaw yung excitement dahil ito na, mga Pinoy na ang makakapanood.”

The singer-actress also admits that she became emotional when she first performed Les Miz in her home country.

“First night, naiyak talaga ako sa curtain call.

“[Parang iniisip ko], ‘Totoo ba ito?’”

Aside from Rachelle, another performer with Filipino blood is part of the Manila production of Les Miserables.

Fil-Australian Chloe delos Santos is cast as Little Cosette in the Philippine staging of the musical based on the novel by Victor Hugo.

“Nakakatuwa [sabi niya sa akin], ‘Hi, ate.’ Sabi ko, ‘Wow! You know how to speak Tagalog.’

“Tinuturuan siya. Nagkukumustahan kami ni Chloe. She’s very sweet. I like her.

“Iba pa rin na parang kadugo mo. Sa London, blonde, e!” said Rachelle Ann with a laugh.

Does Rachelle Ann still have time to date?

She says, “Alam mo, parang wala masyadong time.

“Kasi isang araw lang ang pahinga ko then para sa sarili ko na lang

“I spend time with my friends. I do go out, which is good.”
